Area QNH

Area QNH is an altimeter setting forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology that is within ±5 hPa of the actual QNH for any location within a specified geographical area. It is used to maintain vertical separation when flying below the transition altitude and a local QNH is not available. Area QNH is a forecast value and may differ slightly from the actual QNH at a given location.
