Hot Fuelling
Hot fuelling is the process of fuelling an aircraft while its engine is running. Under CASR Part 91, this hazardous activity is strictly regulated, generally restricted to turbine-engine aircraft, and requires adherence to specific procedures detailed in the aircraft flight manual.
Key Points
- •Normally restricted to turbine-engine aircraft only.
- •Requires constant communication between the pilot and the person fuelling the aircraft.
- •Doors on the fuelling side must be closed, and at least one door open on the non-fuelling side.
Exam Relevance
Knowing the restrictions, communication requirements, and safety protocols around aircraft fuelling operations is mandatory for the air law component of the PPL.
